Performance
Consumers who choose the base model of the 2018 VW Atlas will enjoy a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that pushes out 238 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drivetrain ensure smooth responses and handling.
An available V6 engine offers 3.6 liters. It is married to an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers front-wheel drive. This engine churns out 280 horsepower and offers all-wheel drive as optional equipment. The EPA estimates that the V6 engine delivers 18 MPG during city driving and 25 MPG on the highway. This equates to a combined 20 MPG.
Safety
Volkswagen lives up to its reputation for safety as consumers will find numerous standard features on the 2018 VW Atlas. One such innovative feature is its post-collision braking technology. This system automatically applies pressure to the brakes after a collision to help prevent the Atlas from moving if it is struck again.
